Buying or selling a home is a process that requires ethical standards. When a buyer or seller of a house is working with a real estate agent, it is important to understand certain ethical laws and standards that the agent is required to follow.
Paperwork Copies
At the time a buyer or seller is signing the paperwork, a real estate agent is required to provide copies of that paperwork to the individual or couple. The law requires agents to provide a copy of the paperwork at the time of signing, not at a later date.
Advertised Price
The advertised price of a property that is being rented or sold is the amount the seller dictates to the realtor. The realtor is not legally allowed to advertise without the landlord or seller’s permission or at a price that deviates from the amount the seller requires.
Realtors Cannot Discriminate
Discrimination is not legal. Realtors cannot legally refuse to work with buyers or sellers for reasons of race, gender, marital status, age or religion.
